“I can’t believe he remembered everyone’s name.”

Katie Bowyer, a senior at Carolina, was amazed by Football Coach Mack Brown’s ability to recall students’ names during a Q&A session at the Senior Class Dinner with the Head Coach last night in the Blue Zone.

“He asked us to introduce ourselves before asking our question, and my jaw dropped when he kept referring back to past questions with the name of whoever asked it,” said Bowyer, who serves on the Student Rams Advisory Board. “It shows how much he cares for and appreciates the students here at UNC.”

The event, held for the first time since 2019, was put on jointly by the Student Rams Club and Carolina Fever. It serves to recognize upcoming graduating members of those two clubs and their devotion to Carolina Athletics and celebrate their accomplishments.

The Class of 2023 was the first to be honored in the event since the COVID-19 pandemic, and Coach Brown made sure to acknowledge their dedication to his program despite the hardships during their undergraduate career, calling the student section atmosphere one of the best he’s ever seen.

Members of the senior class arrived on campus in 2019 – Brown’s first season coaching the Tar Heels in his second stint. They felt a special connection and appreciated all the love he showed them at the event.

“He took the time out of his crazy busy spring football schedule to come be with us and celebrate us,” Bowyer said. “I know that meant so much to me and all the other students there.”

“It was a very special night.”
