The following is a Question & Answer from our Student-Athlete Spotlight series.
Q: What’s your favorite Chapel Hill Restaurant?
Erin Boone: Napoli Pizzeria, the pizza is so fresh and different from chain restaurant pizza.
Q: If you could play any other sport at Carolina, what would it be?
EB: I would choose basketball. I used to play before when I started volleyball and I’ve always enjoyed it.
Q: Who’s your all-time favorite Tar Heel?
EB: Michael Jordan because he’s the GOAT but also getting to play in the gym that he played in is really special.
Q: Bell Tower or Old Well?
EB: The Old Well, I love how the trees and flowers frame it so perfectly.
Q: What’s your favorite jersey to wear on game days?
EB: Our white long-sleeved shirt is my favorite, it always looks really sharp on our team.
Q: What is your secret talent?
EB: I don’t think it’s secret but I’ve learned how to spin a volleyball on my finger.
Q: Favorite book or podcast?
EB: The Nightingale
Q: RJ or Rameses?
EB: Rameses!
Q: Lesson you learned from a teammate?
EB: That it’s really important to find joy in competition.
Q: What was your favorite class so far?
EB: Applied Improv for Business. It’s a fun group of people and we get to learn about using our voices and how the way we carry ourselves affects us and others around us.
Q: If you could have any super power what would it be?
EB: I would definitely choose to fly. I would say time travel but it’s too much power for me… and I love aerial photos.
Q: What’s your nickname, and how’d you get it?
EB: Boonie. my last name is Boone and somehow Boonie started on my 12yo volleyball team and it just stuck.
Q: What are you most excited about for this season?
EB: Taking on the rest of the ACC with this awesome group of friends.
Q: What are three things you can’t live without?
EB: My camera, Spotify, and cheese.

EB: Chocolate milk
Q: What is your pre-game ritual?
EB: Singing and dancing with the team in the locker room.
Q: Describe your first Tar Heel victory.
EB: If I’m being honest I don’t really remember it, but one of my favorites was beating Michigan this year. We just went after it and had fun with each other.
Q: What does playing for Carolina mean to you?
EB: It means the world to me — I grew up a Tar Heel and always looked up to UNC players and the volleyball program here. To say I’ve been a part of the team makes me that much more proud to be a Tar Heel for the rest of my life.
Q: Share how Rams Club members have made an impact on your experience at Carolina.
EB: Rams Club members’ support of the volleyball program and athletics in general has been so clear in my time at UNC not only financially but in their advocacy for teams. The program wouldn’t look nearly the same without it.
