Student-Athlete Spotlight: Jaelynn Murray

Graduate-student Jaelynn Murray of Women’s Basketball will graduate with a Masters of Arts in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (MEITE) through the UNC School of Education. During her time as a student-athlete, she represented her team as part of UNC’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council and was named to ACC Academic Honor Roll for 2019-20. The following is a Question & Answer from our Student-Athlete Spotlight series.

Q: What do you remember about your first visit to Chapel Hill?

Jaelynn Murray: I remember having cake from Nantucket Grill.

Q: Where were you when you found out you were going to be a Tar Heel?

JM: I was in Wal-Mart.

Q: What does playing for Carolina mean to you?

JM: Playing for Carolina means so much to me. Playing at Carolina is a honor, but winning at Carolina is a tradition.

Q:What’s your favorite Chapel Hill Restaurant?

JM: Stoney River.

Q: If you could play any other sport at Carolina, what would it be?

JM: Volleyball because I was pretty good at it in high school.

Q: Who’s your all-time favorite Tar Heel?

JM: Shammond Williams

Q: Bell tower or Old Well?

JM: Old Well

Q: RJ or Rameses?

JM: RJ!

Q: Where’s your favorite place on campus?

JM: Polk Place.

Q: What are your hobbies?

JM: I love to dance!

Q: What’s your favorite Disney movie?

JM: The Lion King.

Q: What’s your earliest Carolina memory?

JM: Beating Duke for the first time

Q: If you could have any Super Power what would it be?

JM: To be invisible so I can be places and no one would know.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?

JM: I love to cook

Q: Favorite post-workout snack?

JM: Any type of Gatorade bar.

Q: What’s on your pre-game play list?

JM: A lot of songs by Lil Baby.

Q: Describe your first Tar Heel victory.

JM: It felt so vibrant in Carmichael and I was so pumped to have my first win as a Carolina player.

Q: Share how Rams Club members have made an impact on your experience at Carolina.

JM: Rams Club members have made such a positive impact on my experience at Carolina because they made me feel so welcomed when I got here and they still treat me the same way as if I were family.
